Hazel McCallion Foundation for the Arts, Culture and Heritage Conflict of Interest Policy

The Foundation’s volunteer directors are active in their communities, serving as board members or otherwise involved in a wide spectrum of for‐profit, non‐profit and charitable organizations. The Foundation recognizes the value of involving individuals who have a diversity of experience and are knowledgeable about the Mississauga community. This means that, from time to time, conflicts of interest or the appearance of such conflicts will inevitably arise.

Where there is a material conflict of interest, e.g. a director is acting as a paid advisor, consultant or staff member of an applicant, the individual will declare the conflict, not receive any materials pertaining to the matter and absent themselves from discussions and decisions regarding the matter in question.

Where a director is acting as an unpaid advisor, board director or in some other voluntary capacity with an applicant, the individual will declare the conflict and avoid participating in decisions or votes regarding the application, but need not be absent from the discussion, according to the individual’s preference.

Approved by the Board of Directors on February 18, 2011.
