Applying for a Grant

Grants Program Purpose and Procedures

Applicant organizations must be incorporated or registered not-for-profit organizations based in Mississauga with a duly constituted board of directors and officers. Grants will not be given to individuals. 

Applicant organizations must have an annual budget, approved by their board of directors, and have current annual audited financial statements.  

Applicant organizations must have been in existence for at least three years and offer programs and services within the arts, culture or heritage granting categories. The programs and services must be open to the public and be publicized city-wide. 

Grants will be limited to 50 per cent of the project being applied for to a maximum of $5,000.  The Foundation reserves the right to make special one time grants to projects that have a broader community benefit in the areas of arts, culture or heritage. 

All eligible applications will be evaluated in a comparative context, using four areas of measure: 

  1. Organization
  2. Project merit
  3. Community impact
  4. Need for funding.

The decisions of the Foundation on the merits of the application are final.  

The Foundation will not support any projects associated with organizations that promote the use of violence or weapons, sexual or racial exploitation, exploitation of people or exploitation of the natural environment.
